"Al Dente" is a composer's dream. The film gives music great importance (the ogre's aria guides the little peasant girl), it has very rich visuals and above all three talented filmakers, open to discussion and new ideas. When Jean-François, Mael and Carlos asked me if I would like to compose the score for "Al Dente", I was inmediately seduced by the world they were creating. We talked a lot about what they had in mind music-wise, and it seemed obvious to me that such an ambicious project would require a complex organization: an orchestra, sound engineers, an opera singer, and a few recording studios. I cannot thank enough everyone who was voluntarily involved with the recording, and Benoit Navarret in particular, whose advice and committment were crucial to the project.
In the end, composing the music was the easiest part! I hope that films like "Al Dente" will motivate other filmakers to develop original and lively musical scores. Working on this team was a great pleasure ever since the first meetings that we had until the end of sound mixing. Every composer should get the chance to work on a project like this."
