Important Guidelines on Car Decal.
Car decals are special stickers applied on the windows or body of the car to improve its aesthetic appearance. Below are some guidelines on applying and taking care of your car decal.
Choosing a suitable spot for applying the decal on your car is the first thing you need to do. In order to prevent applying the decal on dirt, clean the spot you have chosen properly. Decal application is quite a delicate process that needs to be done carefully by first peeling a third of the decal from the sticker, stick it on the clean surface and then peel back as you carefully attach the rest of the decal on the clean surface. A squeegee is a very handy device in applying decal as using it aids you to press the decal on the surface avoiding the formation of air bubbles. A smooth and neat finish is guaranteed when you use a squeegee.
As you wash your car it is also recommended that you clean the decal to avoid the buildup of dirt around the edges of the decal. The decal should be washed by hand and with a mild cleaner to avoid causing any damage to it. It is advisable to first test a new cleaner on a small part of the decal so as to assess if it causes any form of damage. When decal is subjected to pressure washers; it can easily peel off. Safety measures such as using a lower pressure of the jet used to clean the the decal, washing with the nozzle at an angle of ninety degrees and maintaining some distance between the decal and the pressure nozzle can prevent any damage to the decal from the pressure washer.
The condition of the decal is not only maintained by cleaning but also taking appropriate maintenance measures. One of the ways you can maintain the condition of the decal or stickers is by applying polish made specifically for keeping it new. Rubbing the polish with too much force would damage the decal and cause it to peel off. It is recommended that you park your car under the shade or in a garage as the sun may bleach the decal or cause it to peel due to overheating.
If you want to permanently remove the decal, you can use heat or a sharp razor blade which you can buy from Custom Sticker Shop. The adhesive on the decal is first weakened by blowing hot air on it, and a plastic card can be used to rub it off slowly. If you are using a blade, carefully peel it off using the sharp edge of the blade. An adhesive remover and a piece of cloth will come in handy for the removal of the adhesive left by the decal as it dissolves it.
